Test Planning
We map your radios to each target market and build one test plan that covers all requirements.

MiCOM Labs tests your Internet of Things (IoT) device and issues approvals for all five markets from a single accredited lab in Pleasanton, California. You work with one engineering team from test plan to certificate.
MiCOM Labs streamlines IoT certification from initial test planning through post-launch certificate management.
We map your radios to each target market and build one test plan that covers all requirements.
MiTest® runs tests, captures measured data, and automatically builds reports, including simultaneous power testing for MIMO antenna ports.
MiCMS® supports certification review, while MiPassport® keeps your certificates organized after launch.

Manufacturers can work with MiCOM Labs to obtain certification in several major markets without coordinating with separate certification bodies.
| Market | Required Mark | MiCOM Labs Designation |
|---|---|---|
| United States | FCC ID | Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) |
| European Union | CE marking under RED | EU Notified Body and RED Cybersecurity CAB |
| United Kingdom | UKCA Marking | UK Approved Body |
| ISED: Canada | IC: Marking | Foreign Certification Body (FCB) |
| Japan | Giteki mark under MIC | Registered Certification Body (RCB) |
Our TCB reviewers evaluate your test data and issue your FCC grant. Your file stays with our TCB team from test data to grant.
The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) accredits MiCOM Labs as a US-based CAB for cybersecurity assessments under the RED. Our Notified Body team also issues EU-type examination certificates when you can’t apply the EU’s harmonized (officially recognized) standards to your radio in full.
MiCOM Labs provides conformity assessment services for radio and wireless equipment entering the UK market. Our experts guide your product through the essential requirements of the UK Radio Equipment Regulations to secure your UKCA compliance.
As an ISED-recognized Certification Body (FCB), our team reviews your test reports and issues ISED technical acceptance certificates directly. We handle your filing seamlessly to grant market access across Canada.
As an RCB, MiCOM Labs validates your antenna gain before you file and issues your Radio Law certification. If your device connects to a public telecom network, we also certify it under Japan’s Telecommunications Business Law (TBL). Unlicensed IoT radios, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, require equipment certification but not an operator license.
Different radio designs require different levels of testing, from host integration checks to full compliance testing.
| Radio Design | Certification Path |
|---|---|
| Pre-Certified Module | Test the host integration and provide the module part number so MiCOM Labs can scope the required testing. |
| Custom Radio or Non-Certified Module | Complete full compliance testing for each target market, with MiTest® supporting real-time test visibility and remote firmware updates. |
| Certified Product With a Design Change | Assess the change and file a permissive change when required to maintain existing certifications. |
Our lab tests the radios your IoT device uses to connect. Find your radio below to confirm the fit.

Yes, if your IoT device is internet-connected and sold in the EU, it must meet the RED Article 3.3 cybersecurity requirements. If you fully apply EN 18031, you may be able to self-declare conformity; otherwise, you need a Notified Body assessment.
No. Under the US-Japan Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), MIC accepts results from MRA-recognized foreign labs without in-country testing. MiCOM Labs tests your device in Pleasanton and reviews your certification as an RCB.
Yes, under Japan’s Construction Design Certification (type approval) scheme. MiCOM Labs certifies your product design, and you manufacture units in volume as long as production matches the approved design.
MiTest® captures data during testing, so you review draft results within days of your unit reaching the bench. You open every report through a secure cloud portal on any device.
Yes. MiCOM Labs is a Foreign Certification Body (FCB) for Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada and a UK Approved Body for UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking. For Canada, we issue your FCC and ISED authorizations from one test campaign.
