MiCOM Labs delivers global cybersecurity consultancy that extends beyond EN 18031 and the EU framework. Through the MiCybercert program, we support organizations in meeting the security expectations of their target markets, even where no formal cybersecurity standard exists. Our team helps interpret regional requirements, track emerging regulations, and implement controls aligned with internationally recognized best practices.

We strengthen product security, documentation readiness, and technical defensibility across all jurisdictions. Drawing on frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST guidance, and industry-specific security programs, we help clients build robust cybersecurity baselines suitable for both regulated and unregulated markets. With MiCybercert, companies can demonstrate consistent security maturity worldwide and maintain a defensible cybersecurity posture wherever their products are deployed.

What is MiCybercert?

MiCybercert is a cybersecurity certification issued by MiCOM Labs that demonstrates a product has undergone a structured security evaluation and meets the requirements of EN 18031, along with broader international cybersecurity expectations. While EN 18031 is the mandatory cybersecurity standard under the European Union Radio Equipment Directive (RED) for wireless and connected devices, MiCybercert is designed to be recognized and applied globally. It confirms that a device’s cybersecurity architecture, implementation, and testing satisfy the technical rigor of EN 18031 and align with widely accepted global security principles.

Through MiCybercert, manufacturers can show that their products have been independently assessed to a high and internationally relevant cybersecurity benchmark, supporting both EU market entry and acceptance in regions that rely on industry frameworks, platform requirements, or general best-practice security assessments.

Why MiCybercert Matters

Beginning August 1, 2025, EN 18031 compliance becomes mandatory for wireless devices placed on the EU market under the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU). MiCybercert provides a clear, accredited pathway for meeting these obligations. At the same time, the certification offers value beyond Europe by giving manufacturers a recognized cybersecurity credential that supports market access and customer assurance globally, even in regions without formalized cybersecurity regulations.

How MiCybercert Supports Your Product:

Cybersecurity Consultancy and Compliance Support

MiCOM Labs provides a comprehensive range of cybersecurity consultancy and technical services for organizations operating in global markets. While we are accredited for EN 18031 and support full compliance for products entering the European Union, our MiCybercert offering is designed to help manufacturers and service providers meet cybersecurity expectations across all major regions, including markets that do not yet operate under a formalized regulatory framework. Our approach ensures that clients achieve a consistent, defensible cybersecurity posture regardless of where their products are deployed.

Consultancy and Advisory Services

Under the MiCybercert mark, MiCOM Labs delivers structured cybersecurity consultancy covering both EN 18031 and broader international best practices. Our consultancy services include:

  • Performing detailed gap analyses comparing existing security controls with EN 18031 requirements as well as global cybersecurity frameworks, identifying weaknesses, risks, and documentation gaps.

  • Providing tailored remediation and design strategies that align with EN 18031, ISO/IEC security principles, NIST guidance, platform security requirements, and market-driven expectations in regions such as North America, Asia-Pacific, LATAM, and the Middle East.

  • Supporting engineering and compliance teams with secure design guidance, privacy protection techniques, risk management, governance policy development, and preparation of evidence packages suitable for global regulatory and commercial evaluations.

Technical Security Testing

MiCOM Labs conducts comprehensive cybersecurity testing across firmware, embedded systems, software applications, cloud platforms, and networked services. All identified vulnerabilities and nonconformities are clearly mapped to EN 18031 clauses where applicable, while also being translated into globally relevant security expectations for non-EU markets. This helps clients understand both the regulatory implications (for EN 18031) and the commercial assurance implications (for global buyers and platforms), supporting strong product security and streamlined compliance pathways.

Remediation Guidance and Implementation Support

Our consultancy continues through remediation and implementation, assisting clients as they address findings and deploy compliant solutions. Areas of support include:

  • Redesigning authentication flows, secure communication models, and account-management processes in line with EN 18031 restrictions as well as worldwide best practices.

  • Enhancing cryptographic architectures, secure update mechanisms, and system trust anchors to satisfy both EU requirements and broader market expectations.

  • Assisting with security features such as parental-control systems, content-restriction logic, data-protection safeguards, and fraud-prevention mechanisms used across different regions.
MiCOM Labs remains involved throughout implementation to ensure each change aligns with global cybersecurity norms and EN 18031’s mandatory technical criteria.

EN 18031 Conformity Assessment

MiCOM Labs is an accredited EN 18031 assessment body and performs the full conformity assessment process internally under the MiCybercert mark. Our accredited activities include:

  • Reviewing and validating technical documentation, design artefacts, and compliance evidence generated during consultancy and testing.

  • Conducting all required EN 18031 evaluations, clause-by-clause assessments, and security verification steps.

  • Issuing formal EN 18031 assessment reports and MiCybercert certification materials upon successful compliance.

  • Providing follow-up consultancy where refinements or additional evidence are needed to complete the assessment.

This integrated model allows clients to receive continuous support from initial global cybersecurity consultancy through final EN 18031 approval, ensuring a consistent and efficient path to compliance, market readiness, and product security excellence worldwide.
