From its inception, MiCOM Labs was driven by a clear vision: engineer-founded; privately-owned; relentlessly-innovating. As wireless tech was in its infancy, MiCOM Labs took a bold step to provide specialized accredited RF, Wireless, and EMC testing services. By the mid-90s, with the explosion of wireless—Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, microwave fixed links, and cellular—regulators recognized the critical need to protect its emergency services and communications. MiCOM Labs seized this opportunity, expanding its reach across North America, Europe, APAC, and LATAM.

MiCOM Labs’ journey has been marked by bold decisions and transformative growth:

  • 2009: MiCOM Labs spearheaded a quantum leap in compliance test processes, focusing on automation and report generation. This initiative addressed the significant regulatory challenges faced by manufacturers, reducing their time-to-market.
  • 2011: The launch of MiCMS®, the industry-leading Certification Management System, establishing MiCOM Labs as the top producer of certifications globally over the past five years preceding 2024, revolutionizing the process with an advanced cloud-based platform.
  • 2013: This was the pivotal year for MiCOM Labs expansion:
  • Moving into a state-of-the-art 100,000 square foot facility in Pleasanton, California.
  • The launch of MiTest®, a patented, integrated, cloud-based test automation application.
  • Becoming one of only three U.S. labs authorized to test and certify products for the Japanese market.
  • 2017: As part of the MiTest automated testing solution, MiCOM Labs developed a specialized solution for testing Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) capabilities, further enhancing their comprehensive test offerings.
  • 2018: MiCOM Labs Shenzhen® was established, marking the company’s strategic expansion into Asia. MiCOM Labs' adoption across the APAC region fueled mass engagement with the MiCMS® platform.
  • 2019: As part of the MiTest solution, MiCOM Labs introduced permission-level access for clients, allowing them to view online measurement data in real-time and generate on-the-fly PDF reports for seamless sharing with their design teams. This innovation eliminates the delay of waiting for test labs to produce a draft report, enabling manufacturers to promptly verify their device's performance during testing and address any issues immediately.
  • 2020: The introduction of MiComms® (regulatory newsfeed) and MiPassport® (an intelligent client certification maintenance portal), both cost-effective solutions simplifying the global certification process for manufacturers, enabling the navigation of complex regulatory processes.
  • 2021 - 2024 : MiCOM Labs processes more certificates than any competitors.
  • 2024: MiCOM Labs are expanding its certification services by incorporating Cybersecurity into its portfolio (MiCybercert), addressing the growing need for robust compliance in this critical area.
